Half year progress pics are up, if you can call them that!
There’s been talk of late that I just haven’t been putting my ass into it! To be honest, there have been a few days, like today actually, where my tiara falls off mid class, shattering on the wooden floor, along with my will, stamina and determination, leaving me dog paddling in a bath of sweat, through the remaining floor series. It was getting me down for a while, but today I just laughed along with it, taking it easy for few and putting the big ones in, the next.
But amongst the blues, I had my best class (in like, forever) on Sunday: an 8am session guided by Allison Wong Toi, a Bikram teacher hailing all the way from New Zealand! Allison teaches with just the right mix of strength & grace, spiking her dialogue with energetic inflections when her flock stray. Before class, Allison greets, relaxes and stimulates us in a gentle apéritif, fortifying us for the class ahead, which I’ve found unique to Bikram Yoga Malmo, Sweden. And yes Allison, your classes feel hotter than the others!
In the photo, Erik looks on with a mixture of disgust and facination as Allison and I devour more vegemite and cheese toasties than the confused Swedish toaster could throw at us! Mmm, if it wasn’t for the absence of flowering pandanus trees and ocean breeze, I could have closed my eyes and drifted on that lovely, pungent, vegemite smell, all the way home.
Hey Matt,
The fact that you have kept up this global punishing routine for 6 months is progress in itself!! Hang in there!!
Speaking of hanging in there… I notice your exercise apparel is shrinking again… though it is probably more of a worry that i am noticing in the first place 😮
Lastly, on the very important topic of Vegemite… have you heard they are bringing out New Vegemite? WTF????
Cheers (or should I say Hej då),
Pete.
allison is an awesome guider….but vegemite??? it has all the power in the world…yummy!!
it’s nice to hear that you are enjoying malmo and sweden at large…good for you & i’ll see u in class!

Hey Matt,
Enjoying reading and capturing a little glimpse into your life on this lazy Sunday afternoon on the Sunshine Coast (which is not so sunny at the momment). Your journey is awesome, and your read puts a smile on my face. Your passion and commitment also gives me (a warm and fuzzy) and helps to remind me just how great (and hard) this yoga journey can be. Look forward to more.
:} Michelle
Thank you for the comments guys. You give me a warm and fuzzy too. Cheers!
