Progress Jan-Jun 2009

It’s great to have a visual to chart your progress, especially after a tough month! Here are pics of the first 6 months of the challenge. At the time, to save on webpage loading, I only uploaded thumbnail pics so you can’t open up the photos proper. Unfortunately, I don’t have the original photos anymore since all my camera and laptop gear were stolen in Buenos Aires during my last month of the challenge! Also check out the pics from Jul – Dec 2009.

    Hey Matt

Keep up the good work! loving your website updates and the pics are gorgeous!! Very inspirational what your doing! Keep on having fun! And I will see you at Club Stretch, Dubai!

  • Ian

Most improved posture has to be ‘savasana’.
Flat out, you’ve got some serious lying-flat-on-your-back going on there!

  • Matt

You’re on the money Ian, I’ve been putting in some time at night working on this one and I’m glad someone has acknowledged my hard work!

  • Matt

Thanks Maria, awesome to have the support of another Aussie on the challenge with me in Dubai!

  • Vinay Nasta

Hi Matt, keep going….you inspired me and pooja to join the 30 day challenge, and we have kept going… Wish you all the very best. Rgds, Vinay

  • Donna

Hey amazing work! I am a teacher in Queenstown New Zealand we are starting our next challenge on june 1 so i will encourage students to join your site, much respect we may see you here at some point! Donna

  • juliet ella mather

    g’day matt,
It was so nice to have you practise in dubai. April was an intense month for a lot of us and it was really great that you inspired so many of us to take on our own personal challenge. Thankyou so much for sharing your strength, focus and energy. Enjoy the experiences to come and have an awesome time travelling mate, hopefully you’ll score some surf in the nxt few months too!!
    jules x

  • Pete

After reading the article in the IQ mag in Dubai.. I finally ‘get’ this progress page (yes I am slow, particularly with exercise related activities).. and you can really tell you are getting bendier! Other notable progress… hair is getting longer, nice… and, well, I will step up and name the elephant in the room regarding the progress shots (but only cos I love you man)… the shorts are getting shorter! :0 Is this a progressive thing? Are you working up(?) to budgie smugglers? I may have to turn off the pics in the RSS feed if this is the case πŸ˜‰
    Cheers, Pete (bored at work)

  • Marina

    Hi there,
well there’s definitely progress to see according to the photos. This little project of yours is a real inspiration. I am going to participate in the challenge here in Vienna which starts on June 1 and I am totally looking forward to it especially after I’ve started following your progress.
Have a nice remaining hot time in Budapest!

  • ZsΓ³fi

You r doing great! have fun! I m waiting for the photos U took at the studio on the last Budapest days πŸ™‚
    Could you send me them?

  • Sharon Barbour

You’re clearly a tripper man!!! Hahaha. Have you really not missed a day? I consider myself pretty committed…5-6 days a week but every day is taking it to a whole new level. Do you ever just want to scream and get smashed instead?? I looked at your route and its a shame. I miss you by a month. I’m heading over from Oz for the European summer. Leave in 3 weeks and I’ll be in Sweden in August!!!. One month too late to meet you and practise with you. Enjoy and power on!! Sharon

  • xxxx

hey my suggestions is better to stop doing hot yoga and research about is big ocean …and try to swim more in to the deep ocean u ll understand about yoga more and more.. in training u ll not learn anything except dilouge

wish you a good luck your journey

  • Matt

OK the trip is off… NOT! I understand where you are coming from xxxx (c’mon what’s your real name?!), but “Hot” yoga as you refer to it helps people just as much as other forms of yoga: each to their own. In the future I intend to check out other flavors, but at this point in time, cant you see I’m on a mission here?!

  • Bernadette Parsons

G’day Matt from ‘Down Under’ – Winter greetings!! You are phenomenonal!!! truly inspirational. I started Bikram’s yoga 12 months ago at Bikram’s Brookvale(I’m 55) and without a doubt it has transformed my life .. inside and out .. I’m doing the challenge .. day 15 over and I’ve never felt better .. Sending you an abundance of angel blessings to help you with your journey!!! Namaste – I see the light within your soul!!

  • Matt

Hi Bernadette, thank you for such a lovely and inspiring comment! It really put a smile on my face πŸ™‚ and I’m sure it will have the same effect when others read it too. It’s funny, I was doing it pretty tough in class last week and just after you wrote your comment my classes started getting stronger again – must have been the angels you sent me πŸ˜‰

  • Ian

    Hey Matt!
Loving the progress! The Tuladandasana, right pose you’re almost horizontal… and in Dandayamana Bibhaktapada Paschimottanasana with your head on the floor? Looking back over the 6 months it’s pretty awesome to see how much ‘progress’ has been made. Keep it up!

  • Oy Sriphakdee

    Hey Matt!
Wow…impressive! I can clearly see that you are making a progress…
    Hang in there Matt!!

  • Lisa

Love this page and am trying to keep up with your progress and do the same! Good luck! Too bad I missed you when you were here in my hometown (Bangkok).

  • Sara

I’m proud to have taken class with you Matt – You are doing a great thing here and your postures are evolving awesomly. You have a really good yoga body.
David and I move to Austin on July 27. It would be great to have you visiting us there sometime this fall – Keep in touch!

  • Ian

    Keep workin it out Matt.
6 months on an incredible journey, I’m really stoked for you – loving the images and dialogue.
    Stay fluid bro

  • csilla tottszer

well i have been slack but i have thought of you many times especially while back at our maroochy chamber sweating it out.matt you are awesome i just had a look through your progress and there are changes that is pretty obvious remember “pop your chest” ha ha.i was close to contacting you while you were in budapest but got distracted story of my life.can’t wait to see you back home with us,and as for the bored thing it is amazing what effects peoples words have on us we should all be more careful what we put out there.again you are awesome no matter what anyone says or what outcomes come out of this bender it’s all good
    wow wow wow

  • Matt

Thanks for your words of encouragement! Sometimes I wonder if I’ve progressed much the last couple of months so the Progress Page is a great way for me to see where I’ve come from too. You’re right Csilla, about how others can affect us.. and how we perceive those words: negative or find a message in them! Looking forward to catching up when my feet hit the Sunny Coast sand again.

  • Carlie Horton

    Hey Matt,
I’m from the Maroochydore studio back home….havent been in a while so feeling a little naughty.
Just wanted to say congratulations on how well you’ve been doing. Great work. You’ve inspired me to get back into the sweat box again.
As for south america…you’ll love it. See you back home πŸ™‚

  • Maria Trim (facebook)

Hey Matt, not long to go now! Love tracking your progress on here – really gives me inspiration and motivation to keep it up! Ive just convinced 8 new bees from a Law of Attracion Group I belong to, to join Bikram in Dubai and they are loving it!!! So cool to see the life changing affect Bikram can have on people! πŸ™‚

  • Matt

Hi Carlie, thanks for your comment. Great to hear you’re back at yoga again. I thought you were planning on teacher training? I’m planning on going Spring 2010, that’s if I’m not completely sick of it by then!

  • Matt

Hey Maria, great to hear from you again. Wow conscripting 8 new yogis, wow and what’s this Law of Attraction Group you’re in? Glad you’re doing well Maria.

  • Sally Brocklehurst

Hi Matt, just wanted to drop a line to say “wow!” Beautiful asanas, great progress and hope you are enjoying the journey. Remember to smile happy faces! πŸ™‚

  • Marleen

    Hi Matt,

Just found your website. I am now into a 100 day-challenge. Started Bikram yoga 15 th of December 2010 and was totally in love with it from the start. Having celebrated day 54, I am now in the 2nd half. Are you still practicing? Have you become a teacher meanwhile ??? :0)(smiling happy face)
