A big thank you goes out to Roxanne Giles, director of Bikram Yoga Maroochydore who has sponsored my first 30 day challenge!
As I begin contacting studios around the world to lock in my destinations, it’s a great feeling knowing my home studio on the Sunshine Coast is supporting me from the word go by providing my first month of yoga on the house!
When I started planning my 12 destinations about 2 years ago, hunching over a world map, excitedly attaching little post-it notes representing each studio, I realised what a tortuous process this was going to be.
There are so many studios around the world to choose from – some countries have studios with just a few blocks separating them, others have only one! And yet there are loads of countries still without any.
Whittling down the long list of countries to a diverse cross section, I realised I had to include Australia. Not just to showcase my country but also my home studio, as a way of saying thank you to Roxanne and all the instructors at Maroochydore, since that’s where the inspiration for this journey began.
Matt, how did you possibly brainstorm all these amazing ideas on your own over the past 2 years? Congrats on the sponsorship–that’s so cool! xx
Hi Chrissy, well I have a great support team, family and friends. Funny, one of my most valued friends and supporters is also named… Oh Chrissy Steinmetz, is that you?! 🙂
Hi Matt!
I was lucky enough to complete my first 30 day challenge at Bikram Maroochydore, too! Rox is one amazing lady … I learnt so much from her!
Good luck with your quest!
Cheers!
Tanya
Hi Tanya, so were you on holidays from Canada (checked out your Canadian Mountain Holidays blog) or are you living in Australia now? There are a few studio’s in B.C but are they close to you?
If it’s ok I might drop you a line later to ask for some advice on locations when I come through Canada on my trip!
Thanks for your support Tanya.
Matt
Hey Matt!
Long story … but short version … we’re from Canada, but spent 2 years in Qld, mostly on the Sunshine Coast, but last six months in Hervey Bay.
We now live in Panorama, B.C. (about 4 hours’ drive from Calgary). We moved back to Canada in March.
Major drawback (about the only one!) of Panorama … no Bikram studio even remotely within driving distance …
There used to be an awesome Bikram studio in Whistler (that’s where I first got hooked) but after looking at their website, it looks like they may not be offering pure Bikram classes any more. You’d have to ask them http://www.neoalpineyoga.ca/ . Otherwise, there are several studios in Vancouver, but I’ve never practiced there.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions, or need a place that’s off the beaten track to crash on your travels!
Cheers!
T.
