Back on the Sunshine Coast and with the older bro Mick in town, it was up at dawn, on the bike & up to Pippies cafe in Mooloolaba to meet the cycling crew for the morning ride. It’s been 18 months since my last bunch ride, and don’t I feel it right about now! With a dull ache spreading through my chicken legs, I just know Yoga tonight is going to be a killer!
We rode from Mooloolaba to Caloundra return and although it was an easy ride by cycling standards, it can be quite a challenge for the uninitiated. Crammed together like sardines, pulsating colour, a circus of hand signals pointing out divets, rocks, cars and swooping magpies. The only thing I got right was the coffee at the halfway point!
18 months ago, I dropped off the bunch at about the 20km mark (hey it’s fast ok!) but this time I managed to hold on until the last stretch and I’m sure it all came down to leg muscle strength and stamina gained from Awkward Pose!
Oh and Mick highly rated the Bikram Yoga session at Maroochydore so if there are any Bikram Yoga teachers in Canberra, Australia, you’ll have one frothing yogi on your doors when you open.
How many Kms did you ride Matt ? maybe 30 or 40 !?!
Well now my legs say at least 40 but I’ll fit my bike computer today, join the pack on Wed morn and let you know. Whatever the outcome, if I ride in the morning, I’ll take a Bikram class at night. That’s the key to recovery!
35kms on the bike this morning (Warana – Caloundra rtn) so it would have been about 40 the other day. Def’ going to Bikram tonight to stretch out. Congrats on making the 6am class at Burleigh on Tuesday Amanda!
Wow thats a long ride !!! I would be bleeting all the way, well i wouldnt make it. Thanks it was hard and i didnt want to go but was glad i did.All i will say is it isnt Bondi with all the freindly ppl it really makes a diference!
It was nice to meet you today Matt. I’ve enjoyed reading about you tonight. What *spirit) you have! I’ve left my email address so we can stay in touch.
Cheers for now
