Yoga therapy is a self-empowering process, where the care-seeker, with the help of the Yoga therapist, implements a personalised and evolving Yoga practice, that not only addresses the illness in a multi-dimensional manner, but also aims to alleviate his/her suffering in a progressive, non-invasive and complementary manner. Depending upon the nature of the illness, Yoga therapy can not only be preventative or curative, but also serve a means to manage the illness, or facilitate healing in the person at all levels.

How Can Yoga Therapy Help Me?
Yoga Therapy is suitable for everybody regardless of your age, fitness, state of health or belief system. You may simply need help with a recent or persistent physical injury, for instance, knee, shoulder or lower back pain. Perhaps you’re dealing with a physiological condition like digestive issues, elimination problems or hormone imbalance. A Yoga Therapist can also help with emotional suffering, manifesting as stress or anxiety before it leads to physical and/or psychological health issues.
It is important to note that Yoga Therapy is a complementary therapy, meaning it can be used together with conventional medicine. So if you need help with something specific or you can’t quite pin it down to one thing, we can work alongside your doctor to achieve the best result for you.
I’m Very Interested, How do I start?
Please call me on 0497 425 284. I will then email you a questionnaire to complete before the consultation. This will:
- help me gather a more complete picture of your current health.
- help you reflect on the nature of any condition, be it physical, physiological or psychological.
During the consultation I will observe and assess you. We will then have a clear understanding of what you would like to achieve with Yoga Therapy. I will then design an appropriate, individualised practice which will generally include simple movements & breathing exercises. I may include other Yoga tools such as sound, visualization, relaxation and meditation. After the first consultation you will take home a clearly illustrated diagram of your personal practice. You’re ready!
Oh, you mean I have to do something?! Yes, to be assured of gaining the benefits of yoga, a commitment is necessary. Don’t worry, I will take into consideration the time you have, place you can practice, your capacity, structure this around activities you already enjoy and make sure your desire to practice is maintained. Commitment just means you are choosing to take responsibility for your own health. Just like gaining a new skill, Yoga works on many levels. You’re taking charge!
If one thing is certain, it’s change! In this instance, it’s the positive kind which gives us direction. So it’s appropriate we meet again to check you are practicing correctly and to update it in accordance with the changes you feel are taking place. The number of consultations depends on your situation and needs. Generally a few classes are held over the first month, then less frequently as the practice progresses. You’re in control!
